Your anxious thoughts are not you. Neither will you be what you are afraid you’ll become.
When you hear of someone failing an exam or going through a difficult time, you tend to be cautious, maybe say a little prayer and then you move on. But sometimes, there is that one thing that just gets stuck in your mind. You can’t get it out of your head.
I tend to get scared when that happens. What if that happens to me? What will I do? Will I be able to handle it?
Then that turns to self doubt. What if I panic? What if I do the opposite of the right thing?
That quickly turns to avoidance. Like taking the longer route to avoid road where there are chances of accidents, or not going to the place where someone was mugged.
